Boat Rental Requirements

Valid Driver’s License

You must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driver's license to operate any of our motorized watercraft.

Parent Supervision

For our younger operators (16-17 years old), you'll need both the safety certification AND a parent accompanying you while operating.

Boating Safety Certification Exam

Who Needs a Boating Safety Certification?

If you were born before January 1, 1989, you're all set with just your driver's license. If you were born after January 1, 1989, you also need to complete a boating safety certification exam

Temporary Wisconsin Boating License

  • Costs $10

  • Exam takes 20–50 minutes

  • Valid until the end of the calendar year

Permanent Wisconsin Boating License

  • Costs $45

  • Exam takes 3–5 hours

  • Never expires

Know Before
You Go

Follow these expert tips from our experienced team to ensure you get the most out of your Door County boating adventure:

  • Know your group size limits

  • Check the weather and dress appropriately (layers!)

  • Pack sunscreen, sunglasses, a cooler, a trash bag, and towels

  • Consider booking fun add-ons

  • Bring a valid driver's license (anyone operating the boat)

  • Arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled departure

  • Ask questions during orientation

  • Designate a responsible driver

  • Allow buffer time for your return deadline

  • Have your fenders ready when docking

Our Cancellation Policy

We Do Not Give Refunds

Instead, cancellations made with 48 hours’ notice before the event will receive 100% credit to use at a later date.

No Show Policy

If you do not show up for your reservation, or cancel within 48 hours of the event, you will not receive a credit or refund. 

Bad Weather 

We do not allow cancellations for less-than-ideal weather. If the weather is bad due to high winds, lightning, rain, or storms in the area, or if unsafe conditions are present, we will call you to cancel or reschedule your reservation. Cancellations made by our staff due to weather will receive a full refund.
