Ventetian Boat Parade and Fish Creek Fest

Just a reminder for all you boaters up here in Fish Creek:
Fish Creek Fest and the Venetian Boat Parade are coming up on July 7th with fireworks to follow. Let's shoot for getting as many boats out there as possible to make this the best parade ever!!!! Come up with a theme and decorate your boat so it's fit and pretty. Make it bright and unique so that it sticks out too!

Sandblasting a rusty boat trailer

Thought I would comment on how great sandblasting is! I wish i owned a sandblaster after watching Tim at Tim's Sandblasting and Welding clean up my trailer in about 30 minutes. After i spent two full days sanding my previous trailer, i was fed up with changing sand paper and my arms were sore.
I was going to rent one, but then you need to rent a huge air compressor too, so for a few more bucks, and a whole lot less time, i had it done.

Pocket PC for Marine Navigation

Tests with the demo version from Memory-Map.com showed that it uses a unique chart format called Quick Chart, but they give you the software you need to convert from BSB to Quick Chart. I tried it and I liked it. I ordered the defeatured version called Pocket Navigator from Maptech for $50. This Labor Day weekend was the Annual Sister Bay Marina Fest. People came from all over to show their boats for the classic boats show. It was a great display of wooden boats for Door County. Check out the photo Gallery for a peek at all the classic boats that were there.

What a day. It felt like 95 degrees in the shade in Sister Bay. The baby small mouth bass off my pier are just bigger than my fingernail. This new web log system or blog as the rest of the internet world knows it, is Door County Boatings newest feature.
