Presenting the 2007 Menominee Waterfront Festival! The City of Menominee and the Marinette/Menominee Area Chamber of Commerce present the 25th Annual Menominee Waterfront Festival. The days of fun begin Thursday, Aug. 2 and end Sunday, Aug. 5. As you get ready to cruise to the festivities, the Menominee Marina is also preparing for your arrival. The marina has 267 slips that are distributed on a first come, first serve basis, and 15-20 wall spaces equipped with power and water. By Friday or Saturday morning, the marina will allow boaters to raft off of each other. Just a reminder that rafting off could mean getting “stuck” in a spot for a longer time than intended.
To minimize traffic and confusion, Marty Kulwich of Menominee Marina suggests making a phone call or radioing the marina previous to your arrival. “If you’re coming over for the weekend or even for a day, just when you’re getting close—maybe an hour out—call us on the cell phone or the radio,” he said. You can reach the marina on radio Channel 9 or at (906) 863-8498. What can I expect? Admission is free, and every day is filled with activities and entertainment for all ages. Kids’ events are also running each day, all day. Nonprofit food booths will open at 4:00 p.m. throughout the weekend. Also, new this year is the shuttle buses available for festival-goers. So which events are the most popular? Donna Williams of the Marinette/Menominee Area Chamber of Commerce said: “The fireworks and the parade. And hopefully this year, that entertainment that we have Sunday—Hotel California—will pull people in because they are actually from California.” Check it out and see why everyone’s so excited! Here’s the planned schedule of events: Thursday, Aug. 2 Lumberjack Competition Enstrom Helicopter Demonstration
