Date: June 11, 2007 Contact: Lt. Cmdr. Joseph P. Malinauskas 414-747-7145 STURGEON BAY, Wis.-- The Coast Guard suspended its search for the missing man, at 3:40 p.m. on June 11, 2007. They began searching the same day after his sailboat was found capsized seven nautical miles northwest of Ellison Bay. The daughter of the missing man, reported that her father, Carl Christianson, was overdue from a sailing trip. Coast Guard Stations Sturgeon Bay and Washington Island searched for the man with a 41-foot utility boat , 25-foot response boat and a 27-foot safe boat. Additionally, Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City had two HH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopters contributing to the search. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla Escanaba, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Door County Sheriff's Department also participated in the search. All agencies conducted search patterns, harbor checks and shoreline searches. Station Sturgeon Bay will tow the 16-foot sailboat back to shore. For more information, contact Lt. Cmdr. Joseph P.
