Boating Safety Classes Offering Print E-mail
The Door County Sail and Power Squadron is offering a boating safety course in Sturgeon Bay starting Wednesday, July 11.  The course is certified by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

In 2006, Governor Doyle signed a law requiring ALL persons operating boats who were born after 1/1/1989 to have proof of completion of a DNR-approved Boating Safety Course. This course meets those requirements.

The four-week course is open to adults and students 12 and older. Each of the four classes will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. each Wednesday at the Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, 229 N. 14th Ave. in Sturgeon Bay. The first session will be held July 11, and the last session on August 1.

Boaters attending the course must have reached the age of 12 by the last day of class to be accredited by the Department of Natural Resources.

There is no charge for the course, but a fee will be charged for the cost of course materials.
