Local Coast Guard Receives Award Print E-mail
COAST GUARDSMEN AND AUXILIARY FLOTILLA 04-06 TO  RECEIVE PRESIDENTAL  UNIT CITATION
On May 25, 2006, at the U.S. Coast Guard’s Change of Command Ceremony, President Bush presented the Presidential Unit Citation (PUC) to the U.S. Coast Guard for meritorious achievement and outstanding performance in action from August 29 to September 13, 2005, inpreparation for, and response recovery to devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina. This award will apply to all of Team Coast Guard since the response to Katrina was an all-hands effort. Coast Guardsmen MK1 Jason Rahn, BM1Brian Levenson, and BM3 James Lollar of the U.S .Coast Guard Canal Street Station, Sturgeon Bay, MST3 Joshua McAtee, of the Sturgeon Bay Marine Safety Division and Jon Burk of Sturgeon Bay, a former Coast Guard staff officer and current member of the Sturgeon Bay Coast Guard Auxiliary actively participated in the Hurricane Katrina recovery operations. The men and women of Algoma/Sturgeon Bay Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 04-06 as members of Team Coast Guard will also receive the new Coast Guard-specific ribbons and devices designating the receipt of the award. Thespecific design for the ribbon and medal are currently being developed bythe U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
