He’s four years into his job at Yacht Works, Inc., Full Service Marina and Boatyard, and still loving what he does and the people he works with and meets. Not only do they have a great bunch of people working in the marina, but they also have great customers. “We take care of everybody,” Hawk said. Hawk keeps busy hiring summer help, buying fuel, scheduling the help, taking transient reservations and supervising the marina. “We sell service, that’s all we have to sell,” Hawk said. “And I provide the service—if you ask for it, you get it.” “The best compliment people pay me—Do you own the place?” Hawk said. “That’s a compliment, because I have a passion for it—I like this place. What do you like about Yacht Works, Inc.? The people. We’ve got a great, great bunch of people in our marina. We’ve got about eight doctors, and we’ve got a Russian professional hockey player. So, we run the gamut—we’ve got everybody here. What is special or unique about Yacht Works, Inc.’s Facilities? You don’t have to leave for anything. And if you want to go somewhere, we will provide transportation for you. If you’re here long-term, we’ll get you a rental car. If you want to go down to Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant in the morning, we’ll take you down there for breakfast and come pick you up. Whatever you want—we’ll take care of you. We’re part of Tow Boat U.S., we have the towboat if anybody ever needs that—that’s in operation 24 hours. Fuel is too, on an emergency basis—if you really need it. We can haul your boat 24 hours a day. If you pop a hole in it, we can pull a boat out of the water up to 70 tons.
We are full service, 24/7. And in any kind of an emergency, you can call 24/7—I live right next door to the marina. This year I’ve probably been up six times fueling boats in the middle of the night. When we had our search and rescue for the gentleman that drown, the coast guard was out there and we fueled their boats for them—One o’clock in the morning, while they were out looking that night—It’s the least we could do. What precautions boaters should boaters take for a safe trip in and out of the marina? Well, they should contact us on channel 9—they should always contact us ahead of time. We don’t like it when they come into the marina without calling because you don’t know who’s coming out, and we don’t know what we’ve got room for. They should always give us a call. And like I said, we are full service, 24/7. Who you should contact: The Yacht Works number is (920) 854-2124. Hawk’s EMERGENCY ONLY number: (920) 421-0307 Who else is available to help boaters?
