HARBOR MASTER COREY LALUZERNE
When asked how he became the Center Pointe Marina’s harbor master, Corey LaLuzerne gave an answer similar to many of the other Door County harbor masters, “I’ve been a boater for probably 15 years,” he said. “Then I caught wind that they were looking for one—and here I am.”

He owned a construction business, building homes, before he took on this job.  Now, he’s in his second year assuming the harbor master title. His job covers more than the typical slip maintenance and promoting customer/boater satisfaction and happiness—he also plays the role of manager as he oversees the work that comes along with the condos, little cottages, and the whole shipyard.

Corey encourages boaters to check out the facility.  The Center Pointe Marina is in its third year of existence and will continue to grow with an indoor pool addition next year.

“Everything is new and its layout is beautiful,” Corey said.

What do you like about the Center Pointe Marina?
I mean everything—the way the pool overlooks the water, and the upstairs boater’s lounge. Everything has a really nice oversight of the whole marina, so it’s a really neat layout.

What is special or unique about the Center Pointe Marina’s Facilities?
Gosh, there’s so much! Like I said, the layout of it, but it’s unique with all of the architecture of the building and the landscape. And then we just have, probably, more facilities with our grills and extras—like next year we’ll have an indoor swimming pool.

What precautions should boaters take for a safe trip in and out of the marina?
It’s all deep water, so as long as you stay within our marina, you’re fine. The whole Sturgeon Bay Channel has buoys, but as long as you stay between the buoys you’re fine.

Just call ahead for reservations to make sure that we have room.

Who should boaters contact?
The marina’s number, which is (920) 746-1912, or they can call on the marine radio, channel 9.

Who else is available to help boaters?
Seasonal employees
