As a boater himself, he said the amenities are important to the nature of boating. “I know that’s what we always looked for—what other amenities they have,” he said. Leathem Smith offers boaters a well-located dock and marina that is clean with a pool and what boaters need to enhance their Door County boating experience. What do you like about the Leathem Smith Marina’s Facilities? It’s proximity to the access off the main highway and Lake Michigan. We have full facilities here except for fuel and repairs, but they like the idea of a restaurant and a lounge, and an outdoor pool—because they’re entitled to use that, too. We have nice occupants of our slips. What is special or unique about the Leathem Smith Marina? I think coupled up with those things I just explained, boaters find all of those things as part of the nature of boating. It’s the amenities, generally, that sell it. The marina is clean and nice, and in a good location. Location, of course, is a prime consideration to where you are going to stay. You’re without wheels for the most part, so you’re talking about close proximity of a bar and a restaurant, and rooms if you want them. What precautions should boaters take for a safe trip in and out of the marin? They have to come through a sailboat mooring area. And we are like every other place on the Great Lakes, suffering from loss of water, so we do have shallow spots. I cannot use all of my slips because it’s too shallow. Take caution entering the marina. Make reservations. Who can boaters contact? The marina’s number, which is (920) 743-5555. Do not monitor any marine radio channels. Who else is available to help boaters? John (Go to lodge front desk and they will guide you to whoever is on duty)
